Mini Makeup Haul.

The months of September and October are a time for big makeup launches as we enter the AW season. Some of these new launches I've been keeping my eyes open for whereas others I just stumbled upon. So here's what I got...

Collection Big Fake Curves Mascara (£4.99, Superdrug)- I totally didn't need this but the brush was so unusual I couldn't resist!

Topshop The Foundation (£16, Topshop)- so for those of you living under a rock, Topshop have launched a new face collection within their amazing makeup range. It comes in a really limited shade range but they've got a pipet applicator and glass bottle. 

Rimmel Provocalips (£6.99, Superdrug)- the promise of long lasting colour with a moisturising finish was too much to resist so I bought two shades!

Maybelline Master Graphic Eyeliner (£5.99, Superdrug)- I totally bought this thinking it was a new Rimmel launch because it was displayed on the Rimmel concession stand but clearrrllllyyyy it's Maybelline. Oh well.

August Favourites.

This last month has gone so fast! That's deffo because it's been the best month of 2014 for me (so far!) with our engagement, my beloved starting work, our holiday etc! On reflection I've tried and loved loadsssss of products this month so it was difficult to narrow it down to a few favourites. Here goes...

Avon Big & Daring Mascara- love this mascara. It gives you big fluttery bold lashes with minimum effort.

Topshop Lip Bullet in Call Me Queen Be- my new favourite lippy, it's like a wintery version of my beloved MAC Kelly Osbourne lippy in Dodgy Girl.

Avon EDP in Luck- my new everyday perfume this is sweet and sophisticated and gets loads of compliments!

Tangle Teezer- my hair saviour! 

Avon Eyeshadow Duo in Deep Wine- this has been my go-to eyeshadow set on my days off, the colours are super grungy and have amazing colour payoff. 

Rimmel Brow This Way in Dark Brown- screw you Benefit Gimme Brow, this bad boy brow setting gel is the one for me.

Avon Magix Multi-Benefit Illuminator- illuminating highlighting concealing genius.

NEW! Rimmel Velvet Matte Nails.

Rimmel Velvet Matte Nails in Sumptuous Red and Purple Opulence (£4.49 each, Superdrug- currently buy one get one half price!).

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS! It's officially AW14 trend time and with it comes new makeup and nail colours and finishes. Rimmel haven't disappointed, launching two new seasonal matte shades in Sumptuous Red and Purple Opulence which are simply divine. I love the packaging of these nail varnishes- they look much more desirable than the traditional Rimmel nail varnish packaging. Sumptuous Red is a rich oxblood red and Purple Opulence is a true royal purple. You deffo need two coats with this bad boy to get true depth of colour and an even finish. The matte finish is soft and completely un-textured; my main issue with these varnishes is that they chip super easily but this won't be helped by the fact that I don't have a matte top coat to secure them with. I'd deffo recommend these varnishes- especially as they're on offer in Superdrug atm. Brb, I'm off to get me a matte top coat! Thanks for stopping by x

Rimmel Wonder'Full Mascara with Argan.

Rimmel Wonder'Full Mascara with Argan in Black (£7.99, Boots).

The secret to Rimmel's recent social media campaign has been revealed! Their latest launch is this Wonder'Full Mascara with Argan Oil promising to give all your mascara needs whilst looking after your lashes. Sounds promising. 

I really like the exotic bronze fluid shaped packaging- it definitely stands out against a sea of stereotypical black cylindrical tubes in my mascara collection! The first thing of note is that I'm not a fan of the brush. I've always disliked plastic comb style bristles on mascara wands, much preferring soft brush bristles for applying the product. I've been struggling with application with this brush itself to be honest; it's quite fat and squared off so I've found it difficult to reach itsy bitsy lashes in the inner corners of my eyes. I really like the formula of the mascara itself though- it's super light on the lashes leaving them soft and supple. It genuinely feels like it's good for your lashes, like it's nourishing and conditioning. I wish this mascara was more buildable, it does give a really nice natural look to the lashes though. I'm not blown away by this mascara but I think that's just cause it's not the one for me. I hope you're all OK, thanks for stopping by x

Rimmel Brow This Way.

Rimmel Brow This Way in Dark Brown (£3.99, Superdrug). 

The world went bananas for the Benefit Gimme Brow when it launched earlier this year. But my gosh it was so expensive for such a dainty tube of product! So let's make way for Rimmel's latest launch of their Brow This Way brow setting gels- available in three coloured formulas. I really like the definition this product gives to bare brows- it adds thickness and depth helping to recreate Cara-worthy brows. I think the shade Dark Brown looks really light on the tapered mascara mini wand but it is a true dark brown on the hairs. It defines the brows whilst holding them into place- a perfect combo. This doesn't feel at all heavy or stiff on the hairs- it feels totally natural just like any good mascara would on your lashes. I really like this product and you get so much more value for money with this versus Benefit's. Thanks for stopping by x

June Favourites.

WOWZERS, it's that time again for my monthly favourites! This year is going by so fast it's horrible! I've loved so many things this month, it's been a time for new launches and new beauty discoveries for me.

MAC Kelly Osbourne Collection- it's kind of cheating but all the products from the collection have made it into my favourites. I know I've not posted reviews of them all yet but I have written them, I just don't wanna bore people who aren't interested in the collection lol. Dodgy Girl lippy is hands down my favourite item and has instantly become my all time favourite lipstick.

Chanel Le Vernis in May and Rouge Coco lipstick in Dedicace- I love this duo they're perfect everyday failsafe colours that go with everything. Both are really long wearing and are true to colour.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation- never did I think that I would like this foundation! This was a gamble that paid off, I've worn this nearly every day this month and what I love most is that it's super pale and perfect for my skin tone.

Avon True Colour Eyeshadow Quad in Nearly Naked- this has to be my bargain buy of the month! I've literally used this every day wearing the pink shade to neutralise my lids and the highlighter shade on my brow bone. I love how easy it is to use and how it's different from your normal neutrals shadows.

O.P.I Nail Envy Duo- I know this was in my last favourites but I'm finally reaping the benefits of using them and boy am I impressed! My nails have never been so long or strong.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Light Porcelain (PRICE, Boots/Superdrug/Tesco). 

It's happened again...I've bought another foundation, oops. This was purely a sale price purchase as it was on offer for £6 in Tesco. I've actively avoided this foundation previously because of it's "radiant glow" claims- me being an oily skinned girl, the thought of having shiny skin isn't particularly appealing. Yet here I am, reviewing it for my lil blog!

Although orange is my least favourite colour, I actually like the packaging of this foundation. I always favour a glass bottle with a pump over most types of packaging. I was pleasently surprised to find that this foundation was available in a super pale shade, Light Porcelain. I don't think I've ever come across this shade in the Rimmel range. It's a lovely pale shade which is perfect for my skin tone- pale girls take note! I really like this foundation, it gives great coverage covering redness, blemishes and pores really well. It does give a natural glow without being shimmery or sparkley. I've been road testing this at work and it lasts really well throughout my 12hour shifts and actually, my skin doesn't look oily or shiny by the end of the day. I'm pleasently surprised and super impressed with this foundation- I find myself reaching for it on the reg atm. Let me know if you've tried this foundation and what you think! New Kate Moss for Rimmel Launches.

Kate Moss for Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipsticks in 33 and 28 (£5.49 each) and Scandaleyes Shadow Stick in Deep Amythest (£4.49; from Superdrug). 

Some brand new collab products have landed on Superdrug shelves in the form of Rimmel and Kate Moss mascaras, eyeliners, eyeshadows and lipsticks. I made a purchase, taking advantage of Superdrug's 3for2 offer, getting two of the new lipstick shades and an eyeshadow crayon. I'm not a fan of Kate Moss, I've bought these totally based on my liking of Rimmel products and these alluring new shades. Firstly, I love the packaging of these products, they're super simple and sleek yet stand out on the shelves from other products. 

Lasting Finish Lipsticks are super creamy and moisturising in formulation whilst giving great colour payoff and last well on the lips. I must say- I find that I have to reapply these ones a lot more than the Matte formula of the Kate Moss lipsticks but that's not too much of an issue for a £5-odd lippy! Shade 33 is a super wearable mid-toned Barbie pink and 28 is very similar but has more coral undertones. 

Scandaleyes Shadow Stick in Deep Amythest is quite simply stunning! The formula is super creamy and smooth which makes it lovely to blend out on the lid. It's perfect for creating a dramatic look because it's so dark and powerful looking. I've tended to wear this at night because it is so dark but I think this would be gorgeous for AW14.

Rimmel Colour Rush by Rita Ora.

Rita Ora for Rimmel Colour Rush Long Lasting Intense Colour Balms in Make Me Blush and Viva Violet (£5.99 each).

My love for the Revlon Colourbursts and Just Bitten Kissable Balmstains (mouthful!) has led me to try similar products from rival brands. The latest launch is by Rimmel, fronted by singer Rita Ora, is their Colour Rush Long Lasting Intense Colour Balms. Well really, their just a launch of new shades as they've actually been around for a good year or so now. I decided to give them a try and see if they lived up to the Revlon products. 

I went for shades Viva Violet, a beautifully wearable plum and Make Me Blush, a pretty natural pink. I love the packaging, I like how you instantly know which shade it is from the colour of the packaging. I also love the ease of use of these chunky crayon type lip products. The Rimmel Colour Rushes are super creamy and moisturising on the lips. I think the colour lasts well, although not as well as the Revlon rivals. They have a creamy finish that isn't matte but they have a good colour payoff which is buildable. Overall, I really like these products and think they'll give the Revlon balms a run for their money! Amazing Base.

I thought I'd do a post about my favourite makeup bases- from BB and CC Creams to full coverage foundations. I have oily skin with large pores; my skin becomes shiny as the day progresses but I do have some dryness on my forehead. I like bases with good coverage and a matte finish to combat my oiliness. I'm also fairly pale so I like foundations without orange or tan tones to them, usually opting for the lightest shade in most high street products. So which products do I love...

Rimmel Stay Matte BB Cream- this is great for 'no makeup' days when I just want a light coverage base, my eyebrows and mascara on and I'm good to go. It's got the kind of coverage you'd expect from a BB Cream so if my skins not the best I try and avoid this. It's great for oily skin because a lot of BB Creams are dewy but this one is deffo matte. I wear this in shade Very Light and I'd give it a 3/10 for coverage.

MaxFactor CC Cream- I'd say I prefer this to the Rimmel BB Cream to be honest! It's got a nice light coverage with a creamy matte finish. This feels more like a light foundation that a CC/BB Cream if that makes sense? I wear this in shade Fair and I'd give this a 5/10 for coverage.

No7 Stay Perfect Superlight Foundation- for me, this is the ideal in-between product of BB/CC creams and a full coverage foundation. As the name suggests, it's super light weight on the skin but as it's a foundation, it's got better coverage and lasts longer than a BB/CC Cream. This hasn't got a particularly matte finish, which for me is a downside, but this can be easily remedied by using pressed powder over it. I wear this in shade Callico and I'd give this a 6/10 for coverage. 

Urban Decay NAKED Skin Foundation- oh my love, I think this is my Holy Grail foundation. It looks so natural but it's got amazing coverage and a flawless finish! This isn't a matte foundation but it looks like a natural NAKED skin finish, hence the name of it. I hardly have to use any concealer with this and it's great for building up in specific places like under the eyes without feeling heavy. It lasts all day long and I don't have to touch it up. I wear this in shade 1.0 and I'd give this a 9/10 for coverage. LOVE! 

No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation- this is a foundation I keep coming back to time and time again. This gives a perfectly flawless matte finish that doesn't let shine through at all, even after hours of wear. It's the kind of foundation that never let's you down- dyou know what I meant? Again, this has great coverage, I wear it in shade Callico and I'd give it 9/10. 

Revlon Colorstay for Oily/Combination Skin- I regularly switch up between this and the No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation. I really like this one, I'd say this has the fullest coverage and it gives a really nice matte finish. However, if you've got any dryness STAY AWAY because it is unforgiving. I imagine a lot of people won't like this because it is mega full coverage but I personally don't find it heavy or cakey. I wear shade 150 Buff and I'd give it. 10/10 for full coverage.

Rimmel Matte BB Cream.

Rimmel BB Cream Matte in Very Light and Light (£6.99, Boots and Superdrug).

I didn't need this. But I sure as hell wanted it! Any makeup with the word 'matte' on it naturally grabs my attention being an oily skinned girl so I bought this. I claims to be a '9in1 Skin Perfecting Super Makeup', I'm not normally a fan of products that make such grandiose claims because I often think it's making promises it can't keep. For me, a lot of the claims are pretty similar regarding having benefits for oily skin- minimising pores and shine etc. 

I like the packaging, its similar to the Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation that I really loved when it launched- I'm gonna dig it out and try it again. After buying Light, I found out that this BB Cream comes in three shades Very Light, Light and Medium which is a typically minimal shade range for a BB Cream. I bought shade Light first (because I didn't know Very Light existed) which is pretty much the darkest colour I can get away with- it's a warm beige tone without a hint of orange. But Very Light is the shade for me, it's super skin flattering for fair girls I'd say this was an Ivory shade.

In terms of consistency, it's quite thin but not in a watery sense and it goes on really smoothly. It gives good buildable coverage though obviously not as good as my usual full-coverage foundation; it's kind of like "your skin, but better". I had to use concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes but that's not unusual. It feels really natural and weightless on my skin, like it not even wearing any makeup at all. It's got a really good matte finish that lasts well throughout the day and with it's SPF 15 I think this will be great in the summer. I actually prefer this to the new Bourjois CC Cream because of the truly matte finish that it gives.

This is my makeup haul from last week. I spent wayyyyy too much money and it's left me a bit on my arse money-wise but at least I'll look good right? It's a bit of a mix between bargain high street and everything else is Urban Decay after having my makeup done. My love for the Revlon Colorbursts is still going strong so I picked up another two- one Lacquer and one Matte both in stunning bright pink shades. I also bought one of the Rita Ora for Rimmel Colour Rush lip crayons in a nice plum shade. I love how easy these products are to apply and think they last a lot better than some lipsticks I own! 

I finally got my hands on the Rimmel Matte BB Cream in Very Light after loving it in Light but it being a bit dark for my skin tone. I also picked up the Maybelline Matte Maker for a bargain £3.99- it's a product I've not even heard of but seems right up my street. I thought this Barry M Brow Pen was a great time saving idea as it creates instant definition. I've seen loads of bloggers talk about the Topshop Powder blushers and I fell for the baby pink Good Girl, it's perfect for Spring!

I've gone Urban Decay obsessed! I found the Shattered Face Case by chance when my chum Dany was buying the NAKED3 palette. According to the lovely makeup artist, it was limited edition for Christmas in America and they've sent all the unsold products over to the UK. I fell in love- it contains five eyeshadows, two blushers, a highlighter, eyeliner and lip product all in one nifty case! When I had my makeup done, she used the NAKED Skin Beauty Balm and Foundation and my skin looked f-l-a-w-l-e-s-s! I'm so impressed with the products I cannot tell you! I also bought a beauty baby pink lipstick and lip liner in shade Native. Wowsers, so there you have it! My mega self indulgent haul. I hope you're all OK, thanks for stopping by x

Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick.

Rimmel Kate Moss Matte Lipstick in 101 (£5.49, Boots).

Seeing as though I'm not a fan of Kate Moss, I never really bothered with her makeup range with Rimmel. However, even I couldn't avoid the endless internet rave reviews of her matte lipsticks and being a mega fan of matte makeup, I finally gave in. I decided to go for shade 101 which is a stunning peachy pink everyday shade. I'm usually attracted to bright, bold lip colours so my collection of everyday wearable shades is fairly minimal. This is there perfect shade to give me a 'my lips but better' look.

The first thing to note about the formula of the Kate matte shades is super hydrating and creamy unlike other high street brands (Barry M I'm looking at you). It doesn't feel like a matte lipstick at all in its formula, it's not at all drying or chalky nor does it drag when you apply it. It last really well for a bargain brand like Rimmel, it's not got record breaking staying power but you don't mind reapplying when it's so reasonably priced. I don't know if it's just me, but this lipstick smells really nice like grapefruit or something!? I really like the packaging of this lipstick, it's super simply yet with it being bright red you can spot it in the depths of your handbag! Trying this has deffo made me want to look at some of the other shades in the range.
