Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award.

Wow, I've been nominated by the lovely Vicki at All The Simple Things so thank you very much mrs! It's always lovely to know that people are reading and enjoying my blog as I get so much pleasure out of reading other people's blogs!

To Blog Or Not To Blog.

So I've been away from blogging for a while and to be honest, I feel a bit weird about it all. I've been debating with myself whether to start blogging again. This time away has given me chance to reflect on my blog and what it's all about and what direction I want to take it in. To be honest with you, there were points when I'd look at my blog and be disappointed with the standard fare I was churning out. I felt like I'd seen it all before on some other blog somewhere in the ether and that my posts were just a poor imitation that no one was really interested in. I found myself buying products just so I had stuff in to review for my blog, not because I particularly wanted them. But what most annoyed me was the lack of "me" in the blog- it was written by me but it didn't seem to have any of my personality in the posts, subject matter or content in general. This is starting to sound like some band who've released an experimental new album and are slagging off all their previous releases (ahem, Deaf Havana I'm looking at you) but I'm slagging myself off for churning out vacuous bull shit when I know I can do better.

So, let's start as we mean to go on. Where have I been? Well, I've been working 50-70hour weeks because unfortunately my beloved lost his job back in October. I'll admit that I've let the need to earn money take over my life completely at times but I feel like I'm starting to get the work/life balance a bit more level now. It sounds like I'm whinging but I truly love my job. I'm a support worker which means working shifts and (the dreaded) nights- which I'm unfortunately due to commence next week wahhhh.

I feel like I need to start right back at the beginning. So... I'm Roisin, I'm 22years old and I'm a Psychology Graduate living laughing and loving with my wonderful boyfriend. I love cats, of which I have three that live with my parents as I couldn't bring them with me when I moved out. One of my biggest passions in life is music, specifically that of the heavy metal kind (let's not get into sub genre specifics today please). I'm somewhat artistic without the time needed to form a real hobby; I love painting, sewing and baking but haven't got the mental capacity to be obsessed with any of them. I love tattoos: on me, in paintings, on other people, anywhere! I currently have five tattoos, and counting including: angels on my feet, an owl on my arm, a cat on my leg and a heart with a banner and my baby cats name on it on my leg. I also have eleven piercings if anyone's interested including a chest microdermal which is my favourite! I love Harry Potter and cry every time Snape dies when I watch the final film. I also like detective fiction, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead- oh me oh my! This is me, or just part of me and there's so much more to give on this little blog of mine.

How Soon Is Now.

Well, I don't know where to start really. I've been away from blogging now for nearly two months, debating whether to get back involved and start posting again. I think I had a bit of a crisis of blog-identity, feeling like I wasn't really representing who I was through my blog. I began to feel like my blog was a cheap reproduction of many other people's blogs.

When I first started blogging, I found it to be something relaxing that I could use as a platform to express my views on some things, hoping that there would be other nerds like me out there that would agree- or that I could at least strike up a debate with. I think I tried to become like the bloggers I so aspired to be, but they're not me and I ain't them. I'm a size 14, tattooed metalhead who loves cats, reading detective and syfy fiction and is a real homebody. And you know what? That's fine. And I want to start showing that through my blog. So this is me, I am Roisin and this is Brutal Fashion and Beauty, the real me.

The Boys Are Back In Town.

I'm back (did anyone really notice that I was away?)- I've had a mini week off from blogging and I feel ready to come back and get stuck in again. I felt like my heart hasn't really been into blogging over the past few weeks, I think partly due to the fact that I'm currently waiting to start my new job so I'm fed up with doing nothing all the time and partly because I'm trying not to buy so many clothes/beauty/makeup products at the moment because I'm stocking up on housey stuff for when I move out. I've also found that there aren't many products out there that I've been desperate to try out- I feel like there's currently a bit of a lull between the end of summer and the wait for Christmas products to come out.

During my time away from blogging I've essentially been trying to find inspiration through finding new blogs, studying fashion trends and by brainstorming (not politically correct) ideas for series or posts for my blog. I think it can be hard when there's a million trillion blogs out there to feel like you're coming up with something new and exciting or that anyone's even reading your posts! But I've reassessed my outlook and remembered why I got into blogging in the first place: because it was something I enjoyed and I found it relaxing. So less of the stress and on with the show! Thanks to all you lovelies who do read and enjoy my blog- I love reading all your comments and suggestions and I always reply and check out your blogs too :]
