SS13 Trends.

I'm usually not a fan of Spring/Summer fashion- it's usually way to neon-festival-minimal clothes for my personal taste. However, this year SS launches are much more up my street and I think they're actually a bit more wearable in everyday life situations, rather than just on a catwalk. I've tried to make some outfits from high street drops of five of the trends this season. Enjoy!

Long hemlines and conservative tops were back on the catwalks for SS13 and I'm so excited! In this outfit I tried to team a classic blouse and skirt with more modern accessories. I love every single item in this outfit- I think this skirt would be super wearable and could be dressed down with a t-shirt and trainers, or dressed up with a blouse and heels. I'm loving these cut-out flatforms, I bet they're mega easy walk in too. I'm not a fan of all out neon but I love the subtle neon yellow on these chunky chain bracelets.

Now, Utility isn't usually a trend I'd be interested in because I typically think of gold hardware, mesh and unstructured baggy clothes. But I thought I'd take my own twist on the trend and choose items that I'd personally wear but with a utility feel to them. I'm loving the look of this leather jacket- it looks so soft and I like the waterfall front. I'm officially inlove with these buckle boots from Topshop- they're super high but I can always just look at them haha. I actually like the current trend of wearing wooly hats with dresses and I like this one with cross studs on.

Monochrome is a trend I'm super excited about as the majority of my wardrobe is black and white anyway! But I'm liking the mixture of stripes with the current trend. I went for this neon pink necklace from H&M as it's a mega bargain and it definitely stands out against the black and white outfit.

This is a trend that I don't think has fully filtered through onto the high street yet. The catwalk featured bright, coloured foil skirts but most of the high street hits are either foil silver or holographic. I'm liking this dress as it's a bit more of a subtle take on the futuristic trend with it's brushed silver effect. I like these iridescent textured hair bow clips from Topshop- I think they're super pretty and girly.

So there's my take on some of SS13's hottest trends- what's you're favourite trend this season?

Passion For Fashion 2.

In the winter I took part in moneysupermarket.com's #PassionForFashion competition. I loved taking part (you can see my entry here) and it was really interesting to see what on-trend pieces you could get from the high street for super affordable prices. I was super excited when I received an email inviting me to participate in Passion For Fashion 2 with a focus on SS13 trends. The competition involves creating (a more manageable) three looks including Casual, Party and Holiday with a budget of £200 per outfit. There will be a winner for each outfit category with a prize of £200 to spend on their outfit and an overall winner who could win £1000 to spend on goodies! So here's my entry with some on-trend pieces and looks. Enjoy!

I wanted to go a bit out of my comfort zone for this outfit. In the summer, a casual outfit for me is usually a pretty girly dress, a cardigan and some pumps. Pretty boring, right? So I thought I'd channel the All American/sporty trend with the denim dungaree type dress and high-tops. I much prefer the word dweeb to geek so I went for this cropped t-shirt to wear under the denim dress. I chose to keep the outfit fairly plain and bleached so that I could team it with pastel pink accessories. I love this bag- I think it looks really soft and as it's so large it'd be super practical. I love high-top trainers as they're so comfy but they can be difficult to wear in a girly way, but I think I've just about got the balance right her. It's not gym-chic it's sports luxe!

Another trend that I'm already wearing this Spring/Summer is candy colours. I thought for my party outfit I'd mix and match different ice-cream shades for a vintage house-wife look. I love lace and I love skater dresses and this mint one is simply stunning. I think this pale yellow tweed biker jacket from River Island is a real statement piece that ticks so many SS13 trend boxes. I think it would toughen up the rest of the outfit whilst still being in-keeping with the look. Shoes are oh-so pointy this SS, so I thought I'd jump on the trend-wagon and add these lilac suede heels to my outfit. Finally, this duck-egg blue vintage shaped handbag completes the outfit- I think I may have to get myself this as it is so delicious in so many ways!

I think this has to be my favourite outfit of the three. Here I went for a sixties glamour look whilst trying to remain practical. I thought the title Holiday was a bit vague so I went for a beach look but it is pretty multi-functional with the cover-up being involved. Now I went for the dreaded bikini- I am in no way a ripped, slim beach goddess (I couldn't be further from it); what I am is small up top and large everywhere else. I love this cropped crochet bikini top as it has a super vintage feel to it and I think it would make me look a bit more well-endowed. I love these high wasted black bikini bottoms as I think they'd give me a bit of support in the tummy area whilst still being super stylish. In keeping with the monochrome theme, I chose a striped t-shirt dress as a much-needed cover-up. I love these pearl detail cat eyes sunglasses, I think they're very Audrey Hepburn! To make the look a bit more 2013, I've gone for a hat with stud detail and studded black sandals- it also makes the look a bit more me.

I hope you've enjoyed my post! You should all get involved in the Passion For Fashion competition and if you do, please leave me a link below so I can check out your posts! The closing date is Monday 8th April so get your skates on!

Topshop The Makeup Edit SS13 Collection.

Topshop The Makeup Edit SS13 Collection (prices range from £6-£18).

I, like many of you out there, am a massive fan of Topshop makeup; in particular, I love their nail varnishes and lipsticks. I also love their on-trend seasonal collections. Now, I'm not a massive fan of colour when it comes to my clothes but I sure as hell love colour when it comes to my lips and nails.

The Make-Up Edit 'This season it's all about skin with contouring face palettes and sheen foundations spearheading the latest make-up edit from SS13. As for eyes, mascara makes a comeback with our innovative new brush and bold new colours burst onto the beauty scene.' from Topshop.com

I'm loving the packaging of this collection, it looks so high-end and sleek with the chrome-like packaging and clear perspex lids. I've never used a Topshop mascara but I'm loving the look of this one with it's huge bristle brush. The new Lipstick in Bombshell is the ultimate Barbie pink with a wet-look finish. The new nail varnishes have a new formulation which claim to 'peel off' when you want to remove your nail varnish. I'm not sure how good this is for your nails but hey-ho! I think these two colours in particular are stunning and I'm anticipating they'll have a wet-look, gel-like finish to them. I love the look Topshop have created with their new collection, teaming Cara Delvigne bushy brows with a metallic neutral smoky eye and ombre glossy lips. Will you be picking up any of the items from the new Topshop collection?
